As you may know, Shirley is a lecturer at the Edinburgh College of Art and her students have recently started a project in collaboration with Jutexpo, the UK's leading ethical bag supplier.

The undergraduate students are designing a range of bags with an ethical/sustainable focus to be judged competitively, in two categories, by Jutexpo.

Each student is designing a "bag for life" for a charity of their choice.

Durable textiles are a passion for Shirley McLauchlan who's acclaimed hand stitiched goods feature on this web site.

"We're delighted to be working with ECA for the second time on this exciting project. I'm looking forward to some innovative, structured designs that really capture the best aspect of the chosen charities".
Sam Turner, Compliance Director at Jutexpo
